Rebecca Isabel
Qualified beauty therapist. Skincare formulator. And gut-skin consultant in training. Someone who spent hundreds of pounds trying to fix her skin — and eventually figured out why none of it was working..
The Story
I was caught in the same trap as you
For ten years, I stepped away from the skincare industry. Life changed — I had children, moved into education, and the world of beauty therapy receded into the background. When I came back to it, I barely recognised the landscape.
Social media had turned skincare into a performance. Ten-step routines. Serums layered on serums. Ingredients trending on TikTok one week and being cancelled the next. I fell for it. I spent hundreds of pounds on products that promised to fix my skin — and I kept finding that my skin was still dry in some places, oily in others, breaking out, and constantly dehydrated.
The products weren’t helping. They were making things worse. I just didn’t know it yet.
I started to wonder: what if the routine isn’t the solution? What if the routine is the problem?
So I began creating what I couldn’t find.
I went back to basics. I enrolled on free skincare formulation courses, read everything I could get my hands on, and began creating simple, carefully made products for myself and my family. No ten steps. No trending hero ingredients. Just well-formulated, gentle, genuinely effective skincare.
Everything changed.
My skin — the combination skin I’d been told I simply had to manage, to balance, to keep buying products for — began to settle. And that’s when I understood something that isn’t said nearly enough in the skincare world:
Combination skin is more often than not born from damage, not nature. Strip the barrier enough times and the skin fights back — oily in some places, parched in others, reactive to everything. It isn’t your skin type. It’s your skin asking for help.
By Christmas 2022, I had been using my own products for long enough to know they were working. And I knew I wanted to help other people find the same thing.
So, I trained with Formula Botanica as a natural skincare formulator — one of the most rigorous and respected formulation programmes available. Alongside The Skin School, deepening my understanding of the gut-skin connection: the growing body of evidence that the health of your skin is a direct reflection of what is happening inside your body.
Curious about what your skin actually needs—and why?
A simpler, more informed way forward…
I trained as a beauty therapist and aromatherapist over two decades ago and have spent many years formulating natural skincare and wellbeing products. I continue to deepen my knowledge through advanced training in cosmetic science, organic skincare formulation, and gut health.
At Rebecca Isabel Skincare, this philosophy is grounded in both experience and science. Research increasingly shows that gut health, inflammation, and the nervous system play a significant role in skin conditions such as acne, eczema, rosacea, and sensitivity.
By combining gut–skin education with thoughtfully formulated skincare, I support skin balance in a way that feels realistic, calm, and sustainable — without fear-mongering or unrealistic promises.
I believe that skin health doesn’t need to be complicated. Small, intentional choices — made consistently — can have a powerful impact over time.
Whether you’re here for holistic skin health, support with the gut–skin connection, or a more considered approach to living, you’re welcome to begin exactly where you are.

Rebecca Isabel Skincare provides:
- Gut–skin connection skincare designed to support the skin barrier and microbiome
- Personalised skin and gut health consultancy
- Education around skin concerns, gut health, and holistic wellbeing
- Writing on natural living, food, and everyday rituals that support long-term health
I started this blog out of frustration. I kept seeing the same patterns — ingredients swapped for marginally cleaner alternatives and presented as reformulations, routines that created the very problems they claimed to solve, homemade recipes shared without any understanding of preservation or safety.
I wanted a place where people could come and get honest information. Not a sales pitch dressed as education. Not fear-mongering about ingredients.
Just clear, warm, well-researched guidance from someone who has studied the science, worked in the industry, and lived through the confusion.
